About the Magazine
Every neighborhood has its unsung heroes — the families who have been here for generations, the business owners who pour themselves into their work, the neighbors who quietly make life better for everyone around them. Burbank Hills Living exists to find them, and to tell their stories well.
"A community is only as strong as its stories. We're here to make sure Burbank's are told."
Burbank, California
Who We Are
Burbank Hills Living is an independent community magazine dedicated to the people, neighborhoods, and businesses that make Burbank one of the most distinctive cities in the Los Angeles area. We are not a corporate publication covering Burbank from the outside. We live here. We shop here. We know the streets, the faces, and the history — and we write about all of it with the depth and care it deserves.
We believe that local journalism matters — not the kind that chases national trends or recycles press releases, but the kind that walks into a family-owned restaurant and asks the owner why they chose Burbank. The kind that profiles the teacher who has shaped a generation of kids. The kind that helps a neighbor discover a business two streets over they never knew existed.
Why We Exist
In a media landscape dominated by national platforms and algorithm-driven content, genuinely local storytelling has become rare. The people who define a community — the long-time families, the small business owners, the organizers and advocates and creatives — often go unrecognized simply because no one has taken the time to write about them.
That's the gap Burbank Hills Living was built to fill. We bring local attention to local people — shining a light on the individuals and businesses that give this city its character, and helping residents feel more connected to the community they call home.
Three commitments we make to our readers and our community
Every story we publish starts with a person. The neighbors, families, and individuals who give Burbank its soul are our primary subject — not trends, not statistics, not press releases. Real people, told honestly.
We cover Burbank exclusively and without distraction. That focus is intentional — it allows us to go deeper, know more, and bring our readers the kind of insight that only comes from being genuinely embedded in a community.
We help Burbank residents discover each other — the business around the corner they hadn't noticed, the neighbor with a remarkable story, the event worth showing up for. We strengthen the connections that make a neighborhood feel like home.
